| Terribly saddened this evening to read the awful news about the death of Randy Savage, especially in such awful circumstances.
I'll confess that there were bigger fans of the Macho Man than me, but I take nothing away from his deserved status as a legend in the wrestling business. He undoubtedly deserves the recognition fans give him.
Savage of course had some fantastic matches in his career. Wrestlemania 3 versus Steamboat is always held up as a classic, but his retirement match with Warrior at Mania 7, and Flair at Mania 8 were also both superb.
His career resurgence in WCW was well deserved, and while he wasn't quite the ring performer then that he was before, he still had much to offer.
The timing of his death is sad for other reasons as well. He finally seemed to be coming in from the wilderness with the WWE, and a Hall of Fame induction seemed a real possibility. It's a shame that next year if he goes in, it will be posthumous.
RIP Randy. | |

| I'd echo DS. I may not have always been the biggest MM fan but he still deserves respect for what he did. Along with Hogan and Warrior he reminds me of a time in wrestling, one long gone by. RIP Macho Man | |

| I think you're right about the time long gone comment. There are certain people for me that represent a "golden age" in wrestling. I know some people think the attitude years are the best, but for me its the period 87-92. Guys like Hogan, Warrior, Savage, Perfect, Flair, Bret, Bulldog, Jake, Rude, LOD, HBK etc etc. Those are my icons, and it's terribly sad so many of them are no longer with us. | |

| I liked the Attitude Era and it really got interesting during those days. I look at it like I do a lot of things. Take films. They have improved greatly in what they can do now but there will always be a nostalgic nod to some oldies because they were the ones that introduced me. That's how I see Hogan, Warrior, The Harts, The Bulldogs, etc. and how I see Savage. To me they have lost that fun element and it's part of the reason I don't watch anymore. With Shawn gone Taker is the only real link I see to those days, at least working at the higher level. | |

| I liked Savage, I guess it was only a matter of time because of the drugs he blazed. Randall Mario Poffo. I can see why he changed his name. How long do we reckon Hogan's got? :p | |

| Hogan will go forever. He did a deal with Satan years ago - that "Immortal" tag wasn't just a gimmick. | |
