Really very very average show indeed.
Opening cage match didn't get half the time it needed really. OK, Henry was injured on Smackdown last week and its in Bryan's character to run out as quickly as possible, but it seemed to just be getting warmed up when it stopped.
Cena and Kane wasn't awful I SUPPOSE, but I can't say I really remember much about it, so there was nothing good enough to stand out. Didn't seem to do anything to further the Cena turn either, as Ryder already had reason to blame him. As soon as it went backstage you knew Ryder was going to get attacked, and sure enough Kane smothers him to death with his jaw grip. Despite being out cold, Ryder somehow manages to stay balanced in a wheelchair and hold his feet off the ground while its being pushed, until Kane tombstones him in the ring. By which time it was woeful. Mind you, Ryder is clearly superman, as he's gone from a broken back to a ruptured disc inside a week.
There was a women's match. I didn't notice the costumes as I FFd it.
There were ridiculously long promo videos for both Cena and the Rock which were well produced, but an awful waste of PPV time that could have been better used, especially as they played Cena's just before his match, so the message was "this Kane rubbish doesn't matter and will be forgotten soon as he heads into Mania".
Brodus Clay. As much as I love the gimmick he didn't need to do yet another 20 second squash match if it was going to be exactly the same as his Smackdown/RAW squashes. And why against McIntyre, who is so crap he's in danger of being fired from Sackdown, yet we can give him PPV time?
Punk and Ziggler was a perfectly good match, but nothing they haven't done before, and the lack of any real involvement or screwyness by Johnny Ace kinda rendered that pointless. Still, it was a decent enough contest with some nice moves (the GTS reversal into a Famasser was nice)
The Rumble itself had some nice flashes. Santino and Foley in a Mr Socko/Mr Cobra duel was great comedy, Kofi walking on his hands to escape elimination was great, and the return of Awesome Kong was nice. The end sequence with Jericho and Sheamus was also well done, but the match did have some problems:
1) Lack of star power until the final 8 or so guys. Miz and Cody were the only two entrants from the first half who had any chance of being there at the end. Where were guys like Henry, Kane, Cena?
2) Link to the above, too many complete no-hopers. Ricardo, Lawler, Cole, Duggan, Dogg, and Booker. None of those can even be entertained for a second as people the WWE would book into a title match at Mania. Have Duggan and the Dogg in for the nostalgia pops, but we don't need the rest. Where were the mid-card talent who could have filled it out - the likes of Regal, Goldust, Hawkins, Tyson Kidd, Mason Ryan, Yoshi Tatsu etc. OK, they may not win, but they can at least do a bit. What's more, the inclusion of all three commentators was so ridiculously telegraphed.
3) I wouldn't have had Dolph taking Kharma's finish in the match. The guy has just been in the main event title match and now he's taken a female wrestler's finish. OK, it made her look amazing, but she'd have still looked like that hitting it on someone else.
4) Still no resolution to the Jericho angle.
5) Jericho coming in at number 29 left the crowd expecting a big return at 30. When it didn't happen, they were a bit flat.
