Yeah, it's really nice. So, are you all ready for Christmas? Who'll you be spending it with?

I was ready, until my girlfriends brother decided to buy my girlfriend the new Professor Leyton game which I've also got her. Now I have to take it back and find something else she'll like.

I'll be spending Christmas day with my girlfriend and son. Boxing day will be spent with her family.

Yes, I'm ready for Christmas. Presents were bought a few weeks ago, most of the food shopping is done (last minute stuff aside) and the booze cabinet is well-stocked with the necessary beer, whisky, port, madeira, and champagne.

I'm in "can't be bothered to look at anything new, lets leave it until the new year" mode in work. So its a gentle decline now until next Thursday when I can leave the office and not go back until 4 January.

Family Christmas celebrations really kick off next Sunday with a big Christmas meal for about 40 of us. Christmas day is a quiet one with my folks, and then at various points dueing the holidays we will visit, and be visited by, different family members. A cousin has his birthday on Jan 1st, so we have a double New year session with a party on NYA and then another NYD. I'll also at some point be hooking up with Matthew while he's back from Exeter.

Had a fun family get together yesterday which was quite fun.

Xmas Eve I'll probably be having a skinful in town. Christmas Day my dad's going to his girlfriend's and my mum & step-dad are going out so I'll probably be on my own. I anticipate a day in front of the PS3 or TV with some beers and a few joints.

Boxing Day my step-brothers are home for so we'll probably do the Christmas thing then.

Haha, just read that back: my Xmas day will consist of getting pissed and taking drugs by myself and watching TV. I really do live it up sometimes! Although one of my friend's birthdays is Christmas day so I'll probably go out for a few drinks with him.

Friday 23rd is my last day before Christmas then got the whole time in between then to January 3rd off, except the 28th which I'm in, but I can manage one day.

We're having a three bird roast, and it's going to be yummy! If there was a way to get you to mine on Christmas day, I'd happily have you over for Christmas dinner, a few drinks, and some WWE 12.

....Maybe my family might talk to me for Christmas and have me over if I call them, and make amends for some previous issues.

That might not be so terrible.

Then again, it could also be catastrophic.

I dunno.

Well if you are alone on Christmas day, Mike, if you still have your Skype account, go get a bottle of rum or something and we can play some drinking games Very Happy

I think we should do a Christmas podcast where we have to do a shot of beer every minute for one hundred minutes, then do a review of WWE '12. Who's with me? Very Happy

......No, you're on your own with that one.

Though I'd love to hear a recording of a Skype conversation between you two done at about 4pm US time on Christmas day. It would be 9pm UK time and while Mike would still be together, Jordan would be on a completely different realm of existence, and probably think it was his fridge talking to him.

Don't have Skype ever since my old computer blew up on me. Hadn't bothered to re-download it and have possibly forgotten my password anyway.

CENTURIAN! I would so be in if I didn't have to deal with my family!

I must admit, I'm not very well planned this year, I have my festive beers, but no whisky yet. My plans are as follows:

Work Christmas party this Saturday. Still to sort out my dinner suit for that. Then I'm done with work from the 21st, so will use that to finish off my shopping for my other half, as we've sorted and will be buying family gifts this week. Meal with mates on the 23rd.

After that, I'll no doubt be seeing Jordan on Christmas Eve by the sounds of it! Then I'll do my usual Christmas day shift, Nan's for about 11, then take her and grandad back home for lunch. They'll go later in the afternoon, allowing me to relax and veg by the TV for the rest of the day.

I'm not at all busy between then and New Years, which is odd, as I usually am. I'll have to pop to Neath to see the "in-laws" at some point, and my friend is having a going away party around the 28th before he goes to Sandhurst. Normally however I am pretty rammed with plans!

Probably not on Christmas day, but over the holiday at some point, certainly.

Mike- set up a new account.

Rob- What whisky you after? This year I've got a bottle of Knob Creek Bourbon for general glugging, and a Glenlivet 18 and Glenfarclas 105 for sipping.

Yes, I did say that when I got that for my 40th I wasn't sure if it was a whisky or a medical treatment.

But it's actually a really nice bourbon.

David, not sure yet. However for something to drink as and when, I did pick up a bottle of Bells Monday night. Was completely illegal, but hey, a litre bottle for a tenner, I'll live.

Urgh, whisky...

I drank one with a friend at the pub the other day. Neat, of course. Bloody horrible! I'll stick to pints of cider and puffing joints I reckon

Not wishing to disparage Mr Arnold at all, for he is young and will learn taste in time ;0), but I honestly wouldn't use Bells to clean my shoes with, let alone drink.

Those cheap mass-produced blended whiskies are really pretty terrible. You get an awful muddy flavour which doesn't really taste like anything. Single malts are much much better as its one whisky from one distillery so there is a clarity to it.

But, they are more expensive, and I can understand why people buy the cheaper blended stuff if they intend to hurl it down at Christmas, or drown it with Coke.

And Jordan, it does take a while to acquire a taste for whisky and start to appreciate the subtleties. But once you do, its gorgeous stuff.

Check it out. Needs to be absolutely freezing cold, but when it s, it's fecking gorgeous.

Lovely if you pour it over vanilla ice-cream as well.

Growing number of places that stock it.

Xmas...I'm all but ready. A couple of presents left to get, cards ready to post then that will be it. I've even started on my gfs birthday and that's not until January!

As for the day I will be spending it with my gf. We're off to family for the Eve and then have a couple of friends coming over for lunch on Xmas Day. Boxing Day will be relaxing together, just us.

I THINK I've found that fire toffee vodka on another website for just under £19, that is if it's the same one. http://www.thedrinkshop.com/products/nlpdetail.php?prodid=6269&afwinid=90909

I don't drink alchohol, but I do have 5 quarts of basic Egg Nog from the grocery store in my fridge.

And i'm going to drink every single one of them.

Actually my Christmas has gotten a lot better sounding today, as I got a call from my family. They'd really appreciate having me over.

Hooray!

Ditto on both of those! I'm actually not drinkling over Xmas, while the doctors work out that my stomach problems are in fact wheat based (they are covering all bases until my next blood tests but the fact I suffer after each wheat meal means I don't think it's anything else). But I'll be having a great Xmas for sure! Esp as I have DVD versions of Conan the Destroyer, Red Sonja and Beastmaster coming for my birthday!

I should defend myself as I may not have been clear before. I only got the Bells because 1. It was a tenner for a litre, and 2. I needed something for mixers. As I said before, I'm on the lookout for my Christmas whisky still. At the least if all else fails, Glenmorangie.

Wheato- anything you might think would go with a caramel to toffee sauce. Vanilla, chocolate, coffee, all work.

Also great to mix with apple brandy.

And Rob, Glenmorangie is perfectly acceptable. One I'd recommend that you might be able to get in a supermarket and isn't badly priced is Old Poulteney. Also worth a punt, and easy to get, is Aberlour 10 year old.

Just got given another bottle of Bells from my boss...he gave me Glenmorangie last year. This says two things, he likes me less, and clients are getting cheaper in their gifts to him!

I'll look out for them David, probably going to have a hunt next Wednesday.
