Mike

Obviously, you blocked the option to reply to your message about social networking, so I am doing it in a new string. Ultimately, its up to you what you want to do as regards social networking sites, but as I've said to you before, its your site so you can use it however you want, and if having that medium to rant and post random crap is a useful outlet, you shouldn't feel self-conscious about doing it.

For what its worth, I don't think you are just talking to yourself, as you seem to get a fair number of replies to your posts, but perhaps you ought to look into using it to look at other stuff. Look for groups and pages for things you are interested in, use it as a source of news and updates, maybe look up your old school, that sort of thing. Its surprising how networks can grow.

But withdrawing further from social interraction isn't going to help any feeling of insecurity fella.

BTW, I appear to have become Irish in the last few months. I'm using "fella" WAY to often. I think its because of a self-conscious decision not to call everyone "mate".

Mike, I often read what you have to say on Facebook. You have some really interesting views and opinions.

After sleeping on it...

I've decided that I may use Facebook again... but I will only make new statuses sparingly, and only if I have something relevant or important to say.

Otherwise, it will only be in direct response to people.

But I feel that I'm doing a disservice to myself and others, by posting the streams of stupid gibberish that I do out of boredom.

Although the problem seems to feel like, it's not even boredom sometimes. I used to scoff at people who said that Facebook and Twitter had addictive properties. Now I think it's true.

I seem to proclaim everything, every 2 seconds, even if it's spammy and useless, and sometimes I just sit on it for hours going through everything, ignoring responsibilities around the house I should tend to, or instead of other things i'd like to do.

I'm starting to think it's not a great thing for me, anymore. I won't quit, but I think I should seriously cut down on the amount of time I waste on it.

I usually read what you write too. Razz

You can end up spending loads of time on fb posting random bollocks. Now I tend to stick to news stories or funny links.

I wouldn't worry about what you write. Like the others say I usually have a look. People post stuff as they like. Some people put a status up everytime they move. Others use it sparingly. There's no right or wrong way and sometimes it can help just to get things down and out of your head!
