As some people know, i've been having major problems with getting a pre-order bonus for this game.

Went into Toys R Us 4 times and Best Buy 3 times to ask about their pre-orders only to be given the run around, and then finally flat out told they aren't doing pre-orders in the store. Which really annoyed me greatly. Then of course pre-ordering online is impossible if I have no credit card or accounts or everything.

So while I was talking to my best friend last night, I was relaying to him all the problems i've been having and was venting about how every place wants you to have credit card this and bank account that, and how not everyone has these things or can get credit.

And then he suddenly replied with "there."

And I was like "there? There what?"

And he was like "there ya go. Took care of it, for you. Went to Best Buy.com, put your information in, gave them your email, and I paid for your game with my paypal. You can pick it up when it comes out."

And I was just stunned that he went and did that for me. He not only ordered it to the store where I live, with an email confirmation, but he paid for it, too.... and now I guess I just walk in there and go get it, hopefully with Bret Hart included. Wow.

^_^ I have an awesome friend. I can't thank him enough.

Nice one, nice thing for him to do.

However, I was wondering before when you mentioned the credit card thing. Here in the UK we have these pre-pay credit cards. You walk into a store, pick up a card, and use cash to "load" the card with credit. You can then use the card at any location, store, or website in the world that takes a normal Visa/Mastercard. Your credit limit is whatever you put on the card.

Could be useful for someone like you with no cards or bank accounts.

Don't know if you have those in the US?

We do have things like that, like Gift Cards for many various stores, but they also require money to be handled or deposited into a checking account or a paypal as well for the transaction (most of the time) which in turn always seems to come back to these methods of credit that I don't have.

Other times, i've found a way around things like this, when it comes to things like Microsoft points and some things, but when it comes to "gift cards" for most stores, it always has to go into an account of some kind that requires things I don't possess (and can't or won't get.)

My friend has also helped me out in matters like this before, which is why I'm really thankful and appreciate for his help. Most of the time, I deposit money into HIS account, let him know and he often can place an order for me.

Although I try to use it sparingly as I don't want to bug him all hours of the day, or take advantage of his kindness or anything.

Still... I was surprised when he just up and paid for the game, all $64 (tax included) just like that, too. He wasn't very concerned with getting paid back for it, either... but of course I am going to send him a money order for the amount, anyway. :3

Just to be clear, I'm not talking about gift or store cards. I'm talking about proper master card/visa card, not linked to any one store. And these work purely on the money you add to them. No link at all to any bank account or Paypal.

They happen to sell them in stores, but they aren't store or gift cards.

Hmm. Not familiar with them, but I am quite out of the loop when it comes to everything in the outside world around me. They may exist here but if they do, i'm not familiar nor have I heard much about them.

I am one of those people who just can't understand what happened to simple, non-complicated "I have cash in my pocket, now i'm going to pay for this item" days.

I too do still like the idea of using real money to pay for things. I remember a few years back when I bought a car, the shock on the dealer's face when I rocked up to collect it and handed him £10,000 in £50 notes, rather than giving him a cheque or banker's draft. He told me they didn't usually take cash - he changed his mind when I said I didn't want the car then.

However, credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal accounts do make life a lot easier sometimes. Hotel bookings and car hire for example are virtually impossible here without one, and sometimes its just simpler to use them.
