Just seen a bit of info on the All-Stars create mode from someone who has a review copy.

It seems that when you create a guy, you can only choose to copy the basic moveset of a guy already on the roster, and then amend it by changing the finisher (and you need to unlock finishers as you progress through the game). So you can't tailor a complete moveset from scratch.

On the one hand, this is dissapointing, as it stops you creating perfect versions of people, but then again, in such an OTT cartoon of a game which is more beat-em-up than wrestling sim, I think it perhaps matters less, and a moveset that suits your style of character, with an appropriate finish tacked on, will probably work.

So for the Reaper I will probably give him something like an HHH moveset, and then probably Taker's tombstone unless there is a screwdriver piledriver in.

OMFG TEH GAME IS RUINED BAWWW THQ SUCKS FUCK THQ TEHY R LAZY TEHY RUINED IT OH NOES!!!!111111

Just kidding.

I wanted to get that preemptively out there before the rest of the morons on the internet and THQ's site and every video game website start bleeting the same thing like throngs of angsty sheep. Because clearly THQ can always just magically snap their fingers and make brand new things happen in their games overnight.

But in all seriousness... I actually suspected this would be the case a long time ago and I totally saw it coming.

And in the end, I really don't thinks this affects me, to be honest. Movesets are my least favorite and most tedious creation option IN the Smackdown games, to me.

And even though it's clear to me that this just wasn't implemented because they just didn't have the time to include it, I can see it benefiting the game anyway, because All-Stars is obviously a game that doesn't want you to waste your time for hours creating something, when it should be quicker to do.

So....

I know the internet is going to collectively throw the biggest hissyfit since the demo came out and everyone was like "WAHHH ITS TOO HARD THIS DEMO BLOWS FUCK ALL STARS"

But, I see what THQ is doing, and I saw it coming, so personally, I'm not really disappointed at all by it. It's an arcade game, and I really don't care all that much about the movesets, or even the create mode this time, all that much.

I suspect rather than them just not wanting you to waste a lot of time in creation mode, the decision may be something to do with the way the game plays and flows with the combinations and reversals and the like. Because you can string certain attacks together to do chains and juggle combos, I suppose the game needs you to have a set list of moves its working with to make those work, or else if its jumping around move lists, it will look awkward.

So like you, I can totally understand why they have done it.

As far and movesets generally go, I actually quite like doing them, and I’m always tinkering with them on Smackdown. But I agree that the fun element of the CAW mode in this game will be creating the whacky OTT characters and costumes, rather than the movesets.

Yeah.

If I want simulation and deep creation, I'll stick with SvR11. But if I want a game where i'm more likely to use the legends and superstars in the game itself anyway, i'll play All-Stars.

The whole point of All-Stars is matches like John Cena vs The Rock, Sheamus vs Randy Savage, Stone Cold vs CM Punk, ect. So, it's no big loss to me.

I know all the angry little kiddies out there are going to blow their tops though and scream obscenities at THQ. Let them hate. I'll be enjoying the game. Razz
