Me

1. Dragon Age II (XBox 360). Fantastic game. Highly recommend it. Its an action RPG set in a fantasy world where you play an exiled warrior who makes his way up in the society of the land, and as he does discovers various interwoven stories, feuds, and conspiracies. Lots of great character development, easy to get to grips with, and fantastic battles.

Smackdown 11 - We all know what this is.

2. The Pelican Brief (John Grisham) again. Its one of his earlier legal thrillers, and I think they are better than the recent ones.

Made in America (Billy Bryson) again. A history of American English and American pop culture. Much more interesting than it sounds.

3. I can't remember. It might have been Jonah Hex, which was rubbish.

4. Noah and the Whale's latest album. I quite like easy chill out stuff for a Sunday morning, and this fits.

5. The Lincoln Lawyer. Excellent. Highly recommend it. Based on a Michael Connelly book and about a slick lawyer used to defending low lifes who gets dragged into something over his head.

6. Boardwalk Empire - 1920s and 30s set drama series around gansgters in New Jersey.

Blue Bloods - Drama series about cops in New York.

Swamp People - Documentary series about alligator hunters in Louisiana

I've read The Pelican Brief. Pretty good, I think Grisham's books are pretty good. "A Time to Kill" is good also. I think it may have been his first book. The Firm is good too, and another one, the name of which escapes me, which is about a re-hab'd lawyer goes to the jungles of Brazil to track down a long lost heir to some rich guy's fortune.

That was The Testament.

Yes, that was a particularly good one, and the others you've named there are my two favourite Grisham books. Earlier stuff like those, The Client, the Rainmaker, The Chamber, the Runaway Jury, they were all good.

But then I think he got lazy for a while. Stuff the The King of Torts and The Summons just seemed to be banged out for the sake of a production line of Grisham novels. He also did a couple of other "different" books which (Painted House aside) I didn't think much of. But his last two, where he's returned to the sort of stuff he started off writing, are much better.

Yeah I remember "The Summons". A cameo by Lucien Wilbanks from "A Time To Kill" as the baddie Very Happy I thought The Summons was alright personally. Wasn't great but wasn't terrible. The Runaway Jury was a good one I really liked that.

Have you read The Brethren as well? I quite liked that one.

The Chamber was also good. Not very action focused so I was surprised I got into it so easily. Rainmaker I bought before a flight somewhere I seem to recall and read about 10 pages and put it down, never to be touched since. A rare miss for Grisham there but that was probably just me being 14. I was around that age when I read all of the ones I have read.

I've read all of the legal thrillers he's done.

I really liked The Rainmaker actually.

If you like Grisham, give Michael Connelly and Mark Giminez (sp?) a go. Giminez especially has a real touch of early Grisham about him.

Also highly recommend reading James Patterson's "Judge and Jury". That one even ends in south America, so even more to interest you!

Kool, might have to give them a look.

Have you ever read any of James Rollins? He's got some decent books out, I've read 2 of them. Kind of like the Da Vinci Code but a lot more engaging, and lots more action.

Nope, never read any of his. TBH, I read the Da Vinci Code, but couldn't get into any of the rest of Dan Brown's books, so it might not be for me. But I'll take a look.

BTW, noticed today that Brock Lesnar's autobiography is coming out soon. Co-written with Paul Heyman.

I found all Brown's books quite easy to get into and quite gripping. Yeah, the narrative isn't anything special but it's lucky it's a good plot. Rollins' books are way better from the narrative perspective, and story too, IMO but I guess that's largely down to the reader. I read one called Black Order while I was on the road, it's about "Die glocke", the Nazi's secret weapon they were developing during WW2. Really good read. I remember I sat and read it for about 5 hours straight one rainy day in Bern. The books follow this special forces group called SIGMA, they're like soldiers but trained also as historians/physicists or whatever the task may be. Also read a good Rollins' one back in June when I was on holiday, The Doomsday Key or something like that. Also good.

A shame, the second series was the best, it started slow, but after about episode three it really got interesting. They pulled off a number of swerves and I was hooked. Series three was also very good, they've got a good writing team there.

Better late than never...

What video games are you currently playing? Dragon Age Origins - Awakenings. I've just completed Origins itself and now I'm working my way through the add on packs. Once I've done that it'll be Dragon Age 2 again. I've completed both before but each time you play you can subtley twist it and so importing a different story from the first one will tweak the second.

What books are you currently reading? I've gone back and I'm rereading Dan Abnett's Malus books. Dark elf anti-hero time, me thinks!

What was the last DVD you bought? Probably the 6 Star Trek 'originals' movie boxset

What was the last song/CD you bought? Cradle of Filth's latest, although I am looking to get Deviant UK's latest one soon

What was the last movie you saw at the cinema? Frakenstein - well, it wasn't a movie as such. It was a live showing of the Cumberbatch/Miller/Boyle stage play where the two leads switch roles each time between Frankenstein and the creation. Amazing stuff.

What TV shows are you watching at the moment? TV? What's that??? We hardly watch any TV at all now. We're either playing on the xbox, reading, out or just having chats. We do watch Gardener's World religiously, saw an excellent Monty Don programme on Italian Gardens last night and we'll be glued to Dr Who/Torchwood when they are back.

Favourite website? Probably youtube at the moment. Started putting together a track list and then just listening away. That's what I'm doing now. We've had Placebo and Marilyn Manson, Garbage are on now and then we have Modred's Lullaby, How to Destroy Angels, NIN, Collide, Zeromancer, Orgy, David Bowie, Rob Zombie, Babylon Zoo, Deadstar Assembly and finish with The Cure one from The Crow...goth, me...never...Wink

What video games are you currently playing?
Fight Night Champion. It's the latest, and best in the series. The punch control has been simplified, and it makes the game so much more fun to play. The story mode is great, because the story is compelling and the voice acting is very good. Hopefully they'll put a story mode for created boxers. There is a career mode, but it gets a bit boring after a while.
Smackdown vs RAW 11. You all know about that game, so I won't tell you about it Razz

What books are you currently reading?
Spot Learns Shapes, Spongbob Square Pants jigsaw book... Many other childrens books. I'm learning new things every day!

What was the last DVD you bought?
I haven't bought a DVD for a long while, and can't remember the last one I did buy. I borrow a lot from others, and rent a lot as well. The last DVD I watched was Red. It's a good action comedy with an all star cast.

What was the last song/CD you bought?
Once again, haven't bought a new one for a while. I'm going to buy the new Foo Fighters album when I get paid.

What was the last movie you saw at the cinema?
Yep, you've guessed it. Haven't seen a film at the cinema for a long while, and can't remember what I saw at the cinema last lol.

What TV shows are you watching at the moment?
Anything that's on Nick Jr or CBeeBies.

Favourite website?
This one, Facebook, Youtube, anything relating to porn, and the NCW website/forums.
