WWE 13 roster leaked?

Take it for what its worth, but several news sites are reporting that the roster for WWE13 has been leaked already. Its been suggested that its as follows:

I'm not 100% convinced by that roster (for instance, Steve Blackman is supposed to be in, and DDP is rumoured, but it might not be far off.

Looks about right. I know why they are not included (heeeeelllllo TNA!) but it's a shame an attitude Matt and Jeff and the Dudleys aren't in there. Their matches were as Attitude as anybodys...

Thing is, their moves are always in the game, as are their clothing parts and hair styles, so its never that difficult to make either the Hardys or the Dudleys. And as you can import music and do custom videos these days, you can get it all looking pretty spot on.

While there are a few on there I'd raise an eyebrow at (do people really want to play as Jinder Mahal and Hunico?) the rest seems pretty much on the money to me.

As I say, I don't know if this will turn out to be right, and of course this doesn't include whoever we might get in DLC. In an ideal world I'd like Gangrel and his entrance!, the APA, Raven, Steve Blackman, Crash Holly, Test, D-Lo, Al Snow, and a couple of others. Some are a lot more likely than others (Snow won't be in as he's with TNA for example), but that's a wish list for the Attitude era.

I don't believe a word of it.

There's no way this is a real roster "leak".

At the most, it's someone's best guess, and more rumored speculation.

I'm sure we'll find out the roster in September, though.

It's always possible. Games companies leak their own stuff all the time, to start getting interest. The fact that they've started talking about the game means that it's very possible that they want to get the internet talking. The WWE have done it before, with it's wrestling product, etc. There's nothing the internet likes more than it's own voice so it works as they get mass coverage with a simple leak.

I'm not saying that this is - you could be right. But it's close enough not to be written off, I think.

On the Dudleys/Hardys I know what you mean, DS. They always have the abilityt to make them. I just meant that if they are not there from the start it always feels like theres a bit missing.

Totally agree on Gangrel. It might sound mark-ish but if they did have him in the game with his entrance it would help to get me to buy it. I've always wanted to use the vampire side of my character more in the entrance and that would work a treat.

What you mean is you don't believe its the complete final roster. Neither do I necessarily, but I bet its not far out.

Yeah, I totally believe some of it might be coincidentally right. Seeing as a roster is usually pretty easy to get at least 70% accurate.

All the big, currently employed names are always there every year.

However, as far as THQ leaking this, I totally don't even remotely believe that they would EVER leak this purposefully. The roster is a big deal to them and THQ only releases it with the biggest amount of fanfare they can muster.

They are always very specific and vigorously defend themselves from all the online criticism, their promotional method of revealing the roster and game info with either a big, gala event, or slow, 3 month reveals of chunks of info at a time.

Mostly so they can get on their rooftops and make sure everyone knows it came straight from them and proud declarations of "You heard it here first, folks" to stretch out the hype over 3 months.

It's a strategy that a lot of the "gimme gimme now" folks are always bashing them for (One last year, even went to the lengths of writing a 16 page essay about how THQ's business methods are epic horrible awful fail and they should be fired for not announcing everything about WWE '12 in one day and for making that eeeeevil DLC.)

But THQ always counters on twitter with "if we told you everything now, you wouldn't care about the game and you'd forget it. We want to make sure you are interested from July to the day it comes out."

So, it really doesn't fit in with their marketing strategy at all for any of them to leak it now just like the past years.



That having been said....

I don't think there will be that many Attitude era stars in the game, tbh.

The main roster is missing faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar too many guys to even be close to an accurate current roster.

I honestly think that we won't see any more Attitude guys than we usually see of legends. Maybe 12-16 Attitude era guys, DLC included.

Definitely not 32.

Likewise I think the list will contain more Alex Riley, Camacho, Curt Hawkins, Darren Young, Drew McIntyre, Ezekial Jackson, Jay and Jimmy Uso, John Lauranitis, JTG, Mason Ryan, McGillicutty, Tyler Reks, Trent Baretta, Tyson Kidd, William Regal and Yoshi Tatsu... all names that were left off of this list.

More of them than Attitude guys which will probably only be a few legends big enough to play out several of the main events of the attitude era.

Rather than a leak, I think the claim is that the THQ site was hacked, and this list was on there.

I think you might just see more Attitude era people that you think TBH. If the main story mode is recreating key moments, you need a fair few on the roster in order to do that (unless they are going to be Undertaker/Foley/Rock/Austin/HHH/Michaels). If reliving the era is the key theme of the game, it would make sense to bulk the roster.

However, I do think you're right that a few names are missing. I'd expect some of the ones you name above to be in.

I'm actually inclined to agree with Mike that its not a formal "leak", but I can believe its been hacked.

I'd love to see Farooq and Bradshaw in.

Bald .v. hair or not, I'd be extremely surprised if the WWE put Kurt Angle into the game, and the same goes for Al Snow, given their current TNA position.

In fantasy land wish list time, I'd love to see a "Monday Night Wars" DLC pack - Nitro and Thunder arenas, plus the WCW guys WWE have likeness deals for, and WCW attires for other people in the game (Nash, X-Pac, etc).

I honestly don't think they can get away with having Nitro as DLC. Not after last year.

Once something is included once for free, in a previous year, I think even THQ knows it will be a very hard sell to get the community to be ok with having to pay for it after they bought it before (in a different game).

I have a feeling that they'll recycle Nitro from last year, but if they wanted to add Thunder, or say, Halloween Havok (with the giant pumpkin and everything) for money, that would be more than welcome to add to it.


About the Kurt Angle thing... I just cannot imagine the Attitude Era without Angle. He added just as much to it as Austin, Taker, and HHH. In fact, he was routinely right up there in a lot of angles and big time matches with them.

Matches that I have to say that this game would fail hard at, if they weren't included.

I recently discovered that WWE has had numerous times where they have used the likeness in their advertising of old pre-Crow Sting quite a bit (and on their website as well).

I theorize that the reason they prefer to use this surfer Sting likeness for the original marketing things like DVD covers, the photoshop cgi render used on WWE.com, and other non-footage material is because they have the legal rights to use Sting's likeness from the WCW package, but it looks far better on their legal side when it is a likeness that individual currently no longer uses.

That's just me trying to figure out why they use surfer Sting for EVERY non-footage ad, and only use Crow Sting as footage. It starts to make sense when I think about it.

And it also seems likely to me, that the Kurt Angle likeness with hair, and the singlets he doesn't use elsewhere anymore (the very US flag-centric ones) is very much WWF era, and is very likely to not be confused for him today.

I can see WWF adding it as the basis of "He appeared like this only in our company", and further more stressing in the game that it is this time period that is soley ours.

Maybe a part of me is really wanting to think of it this way, becuase as I mentioned, I absoutely cannot see the Attitude Era without Kurt Angle's Medals, his speeches, The Milk Truck, the matches with the big guys at the time, that theme song, or the Three I's....

But on the other hand, it makes sense to me as well, if it's a style that WWF can, in no uncertain terms say "This likeness was ours and only ours."

He does look very different with hair, I must say. Even at the time, when Kurt shaved his head, I always had this feeling of "Wow, he just has a totally different look to him now. He barely seems to look the same."

Even more so because when I think of the thinner Kurt with hair I immediately think "WWF!!" and when I think of Kurt bald I don't necessarily think TNA but I do think "Kurt Now."

I thought you said thinning Kurt then! That deffo puts me in the mind of WWE/F!

I think you could be onto something with the Sting bit, though. It does pay to remind people of what you own.

Crow Sting was used on the best of Nitro DVD cover wasn't he?

I agree with you that Angle was a huge part of the later Attitude years, and I'll certainly DL a CAW of him, but I just can't see him making the game officially.

I have some faith yet that he will.

We'll see if i'm wrong when it comes down to the announcement.

Angle won't for the same reason that the Dudleys and Jeff won't - they are TNA right now. They will have the bits to create them tho and they'll be copies as soon as you can say Milk Cannon!

I want Gangrel in, with his proper entrance! As long as I get that, I don't care what else they put in :p

1998, and 2010.

The 2010 version is most likely. THQ can only use what WWE gives them, and they would most likely give them this (as it has a minitron and an updated titantron at the correct ratio for all the arenas in the game).

I like the 1998 entrance music for Tyson. Going by the 2010 video, Tyson's moveset is going to suck.

If they are going for the Attitude era feel won't it make more sense to go for the Attitude era entrance? So it would be the 1998 one. I'm sure they could tinker with the size if they really wanted to. If they do use the 2010 it's not giving the right feel.

But let's not forget that the right decision that makes the most sense isn't necessarily the thing that will happen.


I'm thinking the best I can realistically hope for is the old song, the old Titantron and the 2010 Minitron. (Becuase those did not exist back in 1998).

What I think will really happen is the Old song, new Trons. Of course it'll make no sense, but i'll bet that's what ends up happening.

If they could do that then that would be a good compromise, the first of the two.

It's also what happened with Kevin Nash's entrance in WWE '12.

Back when they were putting it together, he hadn't made his appearance in the feud with Punk, and HHH at the yet.

So they did their best guess, which was the Diesel song, the old Kevin Nash tron from 2003, and a new Minitron.
